Introduction

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Hannah Marschall and I work at the Fox Lake District Library in the Children's Department. I love my job. I work with the children and families in that community providing programs and other services  such as reference, readers' advisory. Some of my programs include Monday Morning Storytime, Yoga, Creative Canvases (painting class), and Radcial Readers (book club) to name a few. I am in my final year at Dominican and hope to graduate with a Masters in Library Science this Spring. I am very excited to continue my career in the library world.

In this blog I will be posting entries associated with the LIS 724/EDU 776 class. Also called Integrating Technology into Programming, Services, and Instruction. Technology is very much a part of every day life including teaching and learning. I look forward to learning the many tools available through technology so that I can use them at my work for programs and services.

I have used blogs in the past for personal use. I have enjoyed posting entries about my travels, book reviews, successful programs, and more. Unfortunately when school started up again I had little time to keep up with posting new content. I am very glad that I will be able to get back in the groove again with this class. I have used Wordpress in the past but I think it will be good experience to use Blogger and compare what I like and don't like.

Besides writing for fun I enjoy hiking, traveling and watercolor painting. Also reading, of course, is a big interest as well. I just finished reading My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows. It was a very fun read and I definitely recommend it. It reminded me of The Princess Bride, Cindy by Marissa Meyer, and maybe a tiny bit of Monty Python.

Best of luck to everyone in your classes!

  1. Great to hear you are familiar with blogging! It's always good to have knowledge of multiple tools that do the same task. Hopefully you'll find Blogger easy to use. Looking forward to learning with you this term!

  2. Hi Hannah!
First off, congratulations on being sooo close to graduating! I can not wait to be in your position. Dont get me wrong, I loved taking all my classes but I'm so ready to teach! When I was little, I was obsessed with the library and everyone in my family was certain that I was going to be a librarian. But even though I still average reading a book a week (but you know bring home 5 or 6 every Sunday during my weekly library trip), I just love the reading part not all the other parts. But you make it sound fun with all the cool stuff you guys are doing.

I look forward to reading more on your blog this semester!
