Social Media: a tool for education

In his info-graphic Why Social Media , which I share below, David Geurin gives 7 compelling arguments for using social media in the educational world. Image Source The local elementary school in the town that I work actively uses Twitter and Facebook to update parents on what they school and students are up to. The school will post photos of students' projects, events, fundraisers, and overall news. Students spend a lot of time in school and this allows parents to be involved and be able to picture where their children spend their days learning. Geurin also mentions that by using social media in the classroom it teaches students digital citizenship. This is so important to inform your students so that they are prepared for entering the digital world and recognize warning signs and dangers.
