There and Back Again

I'll admit I was not excited about creating a blog and using it for assignments at the beginning of this semester. I found it a little intimidating even though I had blogged personally in the past. But it has been a very successful way for me to report what I have learned and engage with others throughout the semester. I have come around to seeing how this unconventional method really gives me real workplace experience that I can use. It also has built my confidence using technology in this way and sharing my experiences with others.

The thing that I enjoyed most about this class was exploring the many online tools that can be used in a classroom and library. I was amazed at how many resources are out there that would get students thinking outside of the box, making class more interactive, and teaching in a student centered way. Thinglink, PicCollage, GoogleDraw, Screencastify, and even Twitter were particularly interesting to me. I will be using these resources in the future and appreciate the practical assignments and direction. I hope to use Thinglink in my library to create a virtual tour and I already am using it in another class on a sample lesson plan I am creating.

I now realize I had a pretty limited view of technology in education. I have not utilized it much in my career with students. This course has widened my view and has given me confidence and great ideas for future integration of technology into the library experience and programming.
